How To Find Inspiration For Designers

Ill tell you a simple story based on something that once happened to me,

I’ve always been fascinated by the variety of people and cultures found in Africa. Their difference in language, customs and lifestyle has always been an interesting topic I have wanted to explore and as such has inspired me to create based on this beautiful continent.

Presented with this challenge of selecting a theme for my design, I have had to look down back to my roots for a theme that will best describe what I have envisioned of this muse. This has made me to narrow down to Kenyan culture and tribes.

With over 42 distinct tribes co-existing in this land, I decided to work with the tribe that has been predominantly applauded for maintaining its culture; the Kenyan Maasai.

Born and raised in Maasai land, I have coexisted among this tribe and have always been fascinated by not only their mode of dressing but adornment and culture. The Maasai have also gained worldwide recognition and have become Kenyan ambassadors  the world over.

I would like to create looks for the youth (aged between 18-30 yrs) that are stylish modern and can be worn both on daily errands and also occasions but also have a deeply rooted history.
